Ayurvedic Doctor for Fatty Liver Support
Dr. Arjun Bawa’s Approach to Fatty Liver & Metabolic Health
Fatty liver occurs when excess fat accumulates inside liver cells. In some patients, it is associated with abdominal obesity, insulin resistance, high triglycerides, and other metabolic disturbances. If inflammation and liver injury develop, the condition may progress to fibrosis and, in advanced cases, cirrhosis.
At Bawa’s Centre of Modern Ayurveda, Amritsar, Dr. Arjun Bawa focuses on individualized, concentrated plant-based Ayurvedic supportive care for liver health and metabolic function.
Our Core Approach
1. Supporting Liver Fat Metabolism
Excess liver fat is often associated with metabolic dysfunction and increased abdominal fat. Our approach focuses on dietary guidance, metabolic health, physical activity, and individualized Ayurvedic supportive care.
2. Addressing Digestion & Nutrient Absorption
Bloating, indigestion, constipation, and abdominal discomfort can occur alongside metabolic disorders. We assess these symptoms individually and focus on digestive health and adequate nutritional intake. Vitamin D and B12 deficiencies should be confirmed through appropriate testing rather than attributed to fatty liver alone.
3. Monitoring Inflammation, Fibrosis & Cirrhosis Risk
Persistent liver injury can lead to inflammation, fibrosis, and eventually cirrhosis in some patients. We emphasize monitoring liver function, metabolic markers, and appropriate imaging to assess disease progression and identify complications early.
4. Understanding Associated Health Conditions
Fatty liver may coexist with high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular risk factors. Gallstones may also coexist, while kidney stones, ovarian cysts, and uterine fibroids have different causes and should not automatically be attributed to fatty liver.
5. Recognizing Symptoms & Metabolic Warning Signs
Fatty liver often causes no noticeable symptoms. Some patients experience fatigue or abdominal discomfort, while bloating, dry throat, hair fall, constipation, back pain, headaches, mood changes, and blood pressure fluctuations are nonspecific symptoms that require individual assessment.

Important: Fatty liver does not always progress to cirrhosis, and many people have no symptoms. There is no established basis for claiming that fatty liver inevitably causes gallstones, kidney stones, cysts, fibroids, or all the symptoms listed above. Persistent symptoms or abnormal liver tests warrant medical evaluation. Treatment should be guided by the stage and underlying cause of liver disease.
