Ayurvedic Doctor for Liver Cirrhosis Support
Dr. Arjun Bawaโs Approach to Liver Cirrhosis & Advanced Liver Health
Liver Cirrhosis is our primary area of focus at Bawaโs Centre of Modern Ayurveda.
Liver cirrhosis is a serious chronic liver condition characterized by fibrosis and structural changes in the liver. It may lead to portal hypertension, ascites (fluid accumulation in the abdomen), esophageal varices, splenomegaly, low platelet counts, elevated bilirubin, muscle wasting, and impaired digestion and nutrition.
At Bawaโs Centre of Modern Ayurveda, Amritsar, Dr. Arjun Bawa focuses on individualized, concentrated plant-based Ayurvedic supportive care for patients with liver cirrhosis, including those with associated diabetes and other complex health conditions.
Our Approach to Liver Cirrhosis
1. Supporting Liver Function & Metabolic Health
Our approach focuses on liver function, digestion, nutritional status, and overall metabolic health. Concentrated plant-based Ayurvedic formulations may be considered as complementary support, with appropriate medical monitoring.
2. Addressing Ascites & Fluid Retention
Ascites and abdominal fluid accumulation are important complications of advanced liver disease. We focus on individualized supportive care, dietary guidance, and monitoring of fluid status, kidney function, electrolytes, and other relevant clinical parameters.
3. Monitoring Portal Hypertension & Esophageal Varices
Portal hypertension can contribute to enlarged spleen, reduced platelet counts, and esophageal varices. These complications require appropriate investigations and specialist supervision. Changes in portal vein diameter, spleen size, varices, and other imaging findings should be assessed objectively through follow-up investigations.
4. Tracking Bilirubin, Platelets & Nutritional Recovery
We pay attention to trends in bilirubin, platelet counts, liver function tests, albumin, kidney function, body weight, and muscle mass. Improving appetite, digestion, nutritional intake, and muscle strength can be important components of supportive care.
5. Complex Cases: Cirrhosis with Diabetes or Liver Cancer
Some patients have multiple conditions, including diabetes or hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). Such cases require coordinated specialist care, individualized nutritional guidance, and careful monitoring. Ayurvedic supportive treatment should not replace established cancer treatment or essential liver care.
Our Treatment Philosophy
At Bawaโs Centre of Modern Ayurveda, our focus is on the underlying factors contributing to liver dysfunction, personalized supportive care, and systematic monitoring of clinical progress.
We understand that patients and families may be concerned about liver transplantation. Our goal is to support patientsโ overall health and quality of life while encouraging timely evaluation by a hepatologist and transplant team whenever indicated.
Our primary focus is Liver Cirrhosis โ with particular attention to liver function, ascites, portal hypertension, nutritional status, digestion, and associated metabolic disorders.
Important: Cirrhosis-related complications can be life-threatening. Diuretics, lactulose, prescribed medicines, or other treatments should not be stopped without medical supervision. Vomiting blood, black stools, new confusion, fever with abdominal swelling, or severe breathing difficulty requires urgent medical assessment.
